A decrease in velocity with depth. Such a situation can result in erroneous calculation for the depth of refractors; this can be caused by a layer of lower velocity lying beneath a layer of higher velocity.

This isn't just a soldier feeling picked on. I'm an agnostic soldier, and I feel the same way sometimes. I'll let anyone else have whatever faith makes them happy, and won't discuss it with them, which is the way it should be, but I'll respect their dedication. But it's harder for people like Hall and myself, because there's always a prayer before a family picnic, and comments here and there from soldiers of faith regarding god and prayer and the like. Non-christians are definitely outnumbered in the military, no matter how diverse it may be in other respects.
